Microsoft Cloud Outage Takes Down Office 365 Services

Microsoft Office 365 is an offering of membership sites for Microsoft Office products such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Office 365 delivers the same great products as the traditional versions with additional features such as Microsoft Outlook and Project. The basic plan only includes the Office application, but users may add additional subscriptions such as Microsoft Business Center, Microsoft Dynamics GP, or Microsoft SharePoint to their subscription plans for additional products within these divisions. Subscribers have the option of paying on a month-to-month basis, annually with an extra service fee, or on a per use basis.

One of the additional Office 365 benefits is the OneNote you can view attachments in.

Microsoft Exchange Server is the database for Microsoft Office 365 and OneNote allows you to access your emails, contacts, tasks, and notes in your Inbox. You can also see files, such as those in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint where you can quickly pin a file and take it from Inbox.

Microsoft has made changes to the versions 2013 and now allows two email accounts. Previously there was only one account for each user and this would become annoying if you were sharing documents with others. One account could be password protected and accessed by a team only. The new password system in Microsoft Office 365 opens up a lot of possibilities such as two-person teams where one person has access to the main email while another can view their own emails. This new feature helps ease collaboration within a small workgroup or organization.

Microsoft has three subscription offerings in the Outlook Mail Applet, Calendar, and Remind. Outlook Mail is the program for handling mail in the Microsoft Outlook platform. The Microsoft Outlook Mail applet links into calendar and task management features from the Microsoft Office 365 suite. Calendar and Remind are integrated with the Microsoft PowerPoint software for creating slides and tasks, which run in the Microsoft PowerPoint interface. Microsoft Business Center (MBC) is the storehouse of business information and applications for the Microsoft Outlook Mail, Calendar, and Address Book application.

Microsoft has taken great steps to extend the usability of the Microsoft Office Suite.

The first two apps, Word and Excel, have been enhanced so that they can handle PDF documents and Microsoft Office files. Microsoft has also made it easier to access information stored in one note, another cloud-based storage application for Microsoft Office 365 users. OneNote lets you go directly to a file that you are working on, even if it is not in your current folder. Now you can preview what is in that file before saving or printing it.

For the organization user, Microsoft has made Office 365 software available in the cloud, on demand. OneNote is based on the unified communications environment of Onboard Technology, a collaboration technology company that Microsoft acquired in 2010. OneNote is designed to allow multiple employees to access the same data and collaborate more easily. This new version of the one-note software is in beta testing at the time of this article’s writing, so this overview of what the new version has to offer the organization worker may not be entirely accurate. However, this overview will offer a good place to start for the casual Office 365 user, as well as the person who is already familiar with the Microsoft Office suite and wants to take his or her productivity to the next level.

One of the biggest things the onenote software has to offer is Microsoft Office 365. The basic model of the onenote service includes the Microsoft Office application, the cloud-based productivity platform, and the mobile apps for iOS and Android. With these three tools, any employee can collaborate on documents, calendars, presentations, and more no matter where they are in the world. And all this is done without the need for an actual computer. This is only one part of what makes this cloud-based productivity suite different from its traditional counterparts – the price, the model, and the subscription model.

With Office 365 personal, users have the option of paying per month for their access to the suite.

  • They can also choose to pay for a yearly subscription that will give them unlimited access to the suite, as well as the tools and applications within it.
  • At the end of the year, Microsoft will slowly phase out the monthly subscription plans aimed at smaller organizations.
  • When this happens, you can expect the price of Microsoft Office 365 personal and the other products included in the suite – like word-processing applications and the excel spreadsheets – to increase.
